LA Food Find โ€” AYCE Lunch Box for $14.99!

๐ŸŽฏ Yard BBQ (Little Yard BBQ) โ€” Lunch Box Buffet ๐Ÿ“ 1700 Batson Ave, Rowland Heights, CA 91748 ๐Ÿ• Important: Buffet available 11 AM โ€“ 3 PM only (closed Mondays). After 5 PM, it switches to BBQ. ๐Ÿ’ฐ $14.99 per person for AYCE lunch (heard kids under 5 may eat free โ€” best to ask!). No tips required. Takeout is around $12.99 for 2 meats + 2 sides. Went to check out this newly opened Northeastern-style lunch box buffet โ€” with $15, you really canโ€™t go wrong! Great for filling up before heading out. My 4-year-old ate free (though he just had tomato egg over rice ๐Ÿ˜‚), and my 2-year-old even nibbled on a braised pork trotter! You pay first when you enter (cash = no tax), then grab your utensils. Near the entrance: soup, cold dishes, and fruit. Two long rows of hot dishes โ€” suggest securing a seat first before loading up your plate. It can get busy, so you might share a table. Since no tip is expected, you clean up your own dishes after eating. ๐Ÿฒ The food variety is pretty impressive: Braised eggplant, bell pepper stewed eggs, hand-torn cabbage, Sichuan peppercorn fish slices, boiled fish in chili oil, sour cabbage fish, guobaorou, meatballs in gravy, sweet & sour pork, minced pork with beans, pepper tofu skin, stir-fried cauliflower, pickled cabbage stir-fry, pepper pork, red-braised pork, stewed pig feet, stir-fried tofu skin, vinegar potato shreds, tomato scrambled eggs, and more! They kept refilling throughout lunch โ€” dishes rotate, but the owner made sure nothing ran empty. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ My take: Flavors were solid! Loved the hand-torn cabbage, braised eggplant, pepper tofu skin, and Sichuan fish slices. The wok-fried cabbage had that nice โ€œwok heiโ€ and was generously oily (maybe a bit too much oil for some ๐Ÿ˜…). Fried dishes were a bit too hard/crunchy for my liking โ€” could be more tender. Overall โ€” simple, satisfying, and great value. Not a bad choice for a quick, hearty meal! #SimpleMeal #FoodieCanteen #WeeklyFoodAdventure #LosAngeles #NortheastBuffet #LA #Buffet
