LA Layover Food Guide: 2-Day Culinary Tour š½ļø
Graduating and flying back home with a two-day layover at LAX? Perfect chance to live out my California dream (thanks, Lana Del Rey and GTA5! š). I skipped Chinese food and focused on unique, hard-to-find-back-home spots with great value. Hereās my food journey: 1ļøā£ Meat On Ocean (Santa Monica) Bone-in Ribeye | 60-day aged | Medium-Rare The meat was quality, but the dish didnāt fully meet expectations. Smoked Kielbasa A unique Polish sausageāworth trying! Margarita Verde A refreshing cucumber-based cocktail with a hint of black pepper. So flavorful! The Hummingbird cocktail, however, was just average. 2ļøā£ Water Grill (DTLA) Iced Shellfish Platter (The Grand, for 1-2 people) Oysters were sweet and fresh, though the lobster wasnāt the best. A bit pricier than NYC! New England Lobster Roll Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Buttery, crispy bread packed with generous lobster meat and a perfectly balanced sauce. Will I ever taste something this good again? š Honeymoon Oyster A creative oyster sushi bite. Abbey Road Cocktail A bartenderās specialāfun and tasty! 3ļøā£ Daikokuya (Little Tokyo) This ramen spot feels like a trip to Japan with its retro decor (even the restroom was stocked floor-to-ceiling with tissues š). Cold Soup Ramen āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø A must-try! Loaded with wasabi, refreshing and perfect for a warm day. Great price too! Daikoku Ramen with Black Garlic Oil Rich but not heavyādelicious and comforting. California Roll Hearty and satisfying. A tasty, value-packed choice. 4ļøā£ Eggslut (Grand Central Market) Located across from Angelās Flightāa perfect brunch stop! Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich Mind-blowingly good! Fairfax Sandwich Scrambled eggs with loads of butterāso rich and flavorful. This place redefined breakfast sandwiches for me. A total game-changer! #LALayoverEats #CaliforniaFoodTour #GoodbyeLA #FoodieDiary #RamenLovers #SeafoodFeast
