Los Angeles is seriously the capital of matcha culture — every cafe puts its own spin on it. After sipping my way across the city, here’s my personal ranking: ❤️ Worth the Hype – Red List 1️⃣ Stagger ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My ultimate favorite! Cozy spot with incredible matcha. Must-order: Coconut Water + Matcha Foam — life-changing! Gets busy and closes early. 2️⃣ Memory Look ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well-balanced sweetness, rich matcha, creamy foam. Great for working/studying — but maybe not at night (hello, caffeine!). 3️⃣ Abouttime ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Matcha Einspänner with dreamy foam! Matcha is mild, sweetness is just right. Spacious and work-friendly. 4️⃣ Archives of Us ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Uses Japanese matcha — usually smooth, though I once had a slightly grainy texture. Their hojicha latte > matcha! 5️⃣ Community Goods ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A classic — strong matcha flavor. Always a line! Pro tip: their chicken sandwich is surprisingly delicious. 6️⃣ DA:MO ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unique savory-ish foam with unsweetened matcha — unexpectedly delicious! 💛 Okay – Yellow List 7️⃣ Rōk ⭐⭐⭐ Matcha Duo is bold and thick — but too sweet for my taste. 8️⃣ One:Scape Cafe ⭐⭐⭐ Milk-heavy, mild matcha, on the sweeter side — lacks depth. 9️⃣ Dulce ⭐⭐⭐ Hit or miss — sometimes amazing, sometimes average. The Row location < USC Village. 🖤 Not For Me – Black List 🔟 6xs Coffee ⭐ Matcha + espresso = bitter and intense. Couldn’t sleep after 😴 1️⃣1️⃣ Arabica ⭐ Tastes like milk with a sprinkle of matcha — weak and underwhelming. 1️⃣2️⃣ Concierge Coffee ⭐ Beautiful cafe, but the matcha is straight-up bitter. Hard pass.
