LA Soul Food near USC | Tev’s Kitchen 🍗✨
Spotted this spot online and had to check it out! ⚠️ Closed Mondays — open 1:30 PM–6:45 PM (or until sold out) Tue‑Sun. I went hoping for their famous oxtail, but the menu changes daily — Tuesdays offered wings, tenders, ribs, or salmon. Combos run $25‑$34 (menu in last image). Waited about 50 minutes in line + for food — highly recommend ordering online ahead if you can! The staff was super friendly, and the crowd was all locals — always a good sign for authenticity. 🍽️ What we tried: • Chicken Wing Combo ($25) – Classic sweet‑heat sauce, decent but not mind‑blowing. Sides were the stars: roasted broccoli, incredibly good mac & cheese, and housemade mashed potatoes with bits of real potato. • Ribs Combo ($34) – Fall‑off‑the‑bone tender! A tad salty for my taste, but the sauce was rich and satisfying — very “Chinese‑friendly” flavor. Polished off the whole box and still wanted more later that night! The meal comes with a minty sweet drink (meant to cut the richness) — but there’s also self‑serve ice water by the door. Plenty of street parking available. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving hearty, homestyle soul food — though it’s so rich, once every couple of months might be enough for me! 😅 📍 Tev’s Kitchen 1905 W 48th St, Los Angeles, CA 90062 #LAEats #USCFood #SoulFoodLA #ComfortFood #LocalEats #HiddenGem #FoodWithSoul #HomeStyleCooking #LAFoodFinds #EatLikeALocal #MustTryLA #HeartyMeals
