Lake Tahoe|Real Experiences at 8 Chinese & Western Restaurants
Hope all restaurant owners cherish their reputation. Customers know what’s truly delicious and what’s just half-hearted. Serve good food, and people will keep coming. 👍 I’ve noticed this post keeps getting saved, but it’s been a year—chefs may have changed multiple times since then. Please check the latest reviews before visiting! People often post negative experiences, while happy customers might not bother commenting. Traveling is tiring—everyone, choose wisely and avoid disappointments! 🧐 Lake Tahoe is a popular ski and summer retreat. While there are tons of food posts on Xiaohongshu, the actual number of restaurants is pretty limited 😂. People often have strong but mixed opinions about places, making it hard to choose. During my four-day trip, I tried several spots—here’s my honest take. As someone from the southern coast of China, my rating scale: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Exceeded expectations ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Met expectations ⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Below expectations but acceptable ⬇️ Below 3 = Major disappointment All visits were on weekdays. Dumpling 85 – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beef noodle soup, Sichuan noodles, pan-fried buns, and steamed buns were all delicious. Perfect after a day of sports! 🥟🍜 Himmel Haus – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ | Reservations Recommended German cuisine. Pretzels, weißwurst, pork knuckle (braised, not crispy), and dark beer were all great—not overly salty, probably adapted for local tastes. Only downside: long wait or no walk-in availability if busy. 🍖🍺 MacDuff’s Pub – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Scottish food. Classic fish & chips were solid—cod from the North Atlantic. The lamb pie (minced lamb and potato baked together) was flavorful though a bit salty. 🥧🐟 My Thai – ⭐️⭐️⭐️ | A Bit Sweet A controversial spot but always busy. No wait on weekdays. The hot pot meat was tough, and stir-fried noodles leaned sweet. A friend from Wuxi didn’t mind it though. 🍜 Ha Noi Pho – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Single-serving pho with fresh beef—exactly as expected. Nice views and satisfying. Check out image 14 🍃. Taiwan 101 (Reno) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The $8 braised pork rice was… $8 worth. Drunken chicken tasted bitter from overcooked wine. Matcha boba was average. Beef noodles were okay. 🍚 Araio (Reno) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Korean fusion. Grilled pork with kimchi was good—swapped rice for udon. A bit sweet and salty by the end, but side dishes like black beans were nice. Occasional visit material. 🥢 Shanghai Bistro (Reno) – ⭐️ Highly hyped on Xiaohongshu, but closed on Sunday night AND Thursday noon—no answer on calls, though Google said “open.” Super frustrating. 0/10. 😤 Wishing everyone great food and great fun! 🍁 #AutumnAdventures #OutdoorLife #LakeTahoeEats
