Lake Tahoe with a Toddler β Honest Review of Spots We Visited π¨βπ©βπ§
This was our first time experiencing Tahoe in the summer β and wow, the "jelly lake" and "gem-colored water" truly live up to the hype! We were stunned by the beauty. We drove up from the Bay Area on Saturday and returned Monday β hereβs our toddler-friendly recap. We stayed in South Lake Tahoe, which was super convenient. 1οΈβ£ Emerald Bay State Park ποΈ We arrived Saturday afternoon and headed here first. We stopped at every scenic viewpoint along the way ππ¨. Our toddler loved climbing the big rocks πͺ¨ Saw a waterfall up close π§ Short trails lead to more views, but our little one got tired β so we skipped the hike π΄ 2οΈβ£ Secret Cove π€« Went Sunday morning β parking lot was full ππ¨, so we parked roadside and found a stairway down. β οΈ Be careful with kids β some sections are steep! The turquoise water is breathtaking π Dog-friendly π, and yes, some people were nude β avoid if that makes you uncomfortable Worth the effort β the most stunning spot! 3οΈβ£ Kings Beach ποΈ Very lively but crowded β we waited forever for parking π ΏοΈ (maybe due to the holiday weekend). Beach is fun but sandy + dirty β our clothes turned black π Has a cute suspension bridge πΈ + restaurants nearby π΄ Great for people-watching and vibes πΆ Kayak/paddleboard rentals available (long lines!) 4οΈβ£ Logan Creek Estates π² Stopped here on the way back β quick photo op β 5οΈβ£ Nevada State Park πͺ¨ Simple but pretty β rocks + lake views π 6οΈβ£ Cave Rock ποΈ Visited Monday morning before heading home. Soft sand β perfect for toddlers πΆ Clear kayak rentals available π£βοΈ Next time: renting a boat or bringing our own! Note on Sand Harbor: We didnβt know reservations were needed π¬ β fully booked when we checked Saturday. Slots opened after 5 PM, but we were too tired. Next time! Overall: Tahoe is best explored by driving around the lake β west route one day, east route another. Stop wherever looks beautiful! ππ¨ #LakeTahoe #TahoeWithKids #FamilyTravel #CaliforniaSummer #TravelWithToddlers
