Laos In Town Food Review – A Safe Bet! 🇱🇦✨
Stopped by Laos In Town near Union Station while passing through DC. The decor has an artsy, youthful vibe that fits right into the neighborhood's energetic feel. 🎨🏙️ 🥩 Appetizer: Grilled Beef Jerky Really tasty! The outside was crispy with a sizzling crunch, while the inside had that familiar texture and flavor of Chinese-style beef jerky snacks. A bit salty on its own, but when wrapped in fresh greens with a dab of spicy-sour sauce—just like Korean BBQ—it balanced out perfectly. Rating: 7.5/10 🍗 Main: Curry Chicken Leg with Sticky Rice The curry sauce was delicious, and the chicken leg was huge with crispy skin and good seasoning. The meat was fresh, though slightly dry—maybe they could learn a trick or two from Chinese cooking for keeping it juicy 😉. Chicken rating: 7/10 The sticky rice was served in a bamboo tube wrapped in plastic wrap…which felt a little odd. Not sure how safe it is to heat plastic, and having to unwrap it myself gave off some pre-packaged vibes. Also made me wonder if the bamboo container ever gets washed…😅 But flavor-wise, no complaints—just a bit of a jaw workout with the dry chicken and dense rice! 🍶 Must-Try: Lao Sato (Rice Wine) Sweet, fragrant, and not heavy at all—loved it! A small bug flew into my glass halfway through (it was pretty sweet), but the server noticed and replaced it right away with a full new glass—great service! 👍 💁♀️ Shoutout to the server in the bottom left of the photo—super sweet and friendly, gave off major Anora vibes. Definitely my type 😊 Overall: 4/5 stars – Will definitely come back! Have you been to Laos In Town? What’s your favorite Lao dish?
