Let's go out and enjoy some good food and drinks this weekend!
Before visiting Bratislava, Slovakia's capital (formerly known as Pressburg), I hardly knew anything about the country and had no expectations. I only knew that it's like Germany's backyard factory, with a higher average German - speaking level than English (hearsay, unverified), low wages, and affordable, good - quality goods.😍😍😍 At first glance, it's just an ordinary city, not as architecturally stunning as Vienna or as famous and romantic as Prague. But after interacting with the locals, I gradually developed a liking for the city due to its people.😂😂😂 Located in Central and Eastern Europe, Slovakia's official language is Slavic. The older generation can still speak and understand Czech, but the younger generation is drifting away from the Czech Republic. Slovak cities have a post - communist feel of decline, yet they're clean where it matters and run in an orderly fashion. The people are down - to - earth and pragmatic, which is a refreshing contrast to some Westerners who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. At first, Slovak men may seem rough - hewn, and women blonde and blue - eyed, possibly intimidating, but they're actually warm - hearted. Due to the small Chinese community in Slovakia, Chinese - run supermarkets and restaurants can't compare to those in Vienna and Budapest. So we tried Georgian cuisine, which was affordable, filling, and suited Chinese tastes.😊😊😊 Georgian Restaurant Bistro Zepen House Must - try Georgian/Russian yogurt pancakes with jam. Also, check out the Georgian traditional dish khachapuri in Figure 2, which resembles a large dumpling - shaped flatbread with cheese in the middle. Chance - upon Street Dance Battle Bratislavský Meštiansky Pivovar (two branches to choose from), offering traditional local dishes. I had roast chicken, beef stew, and pork knuckle. The pork knuckle was the best, and I've heard the roast beef tongue is also good. Do try the local "cola" when in Slovakia! It's got a touch of herbal flavor, but it's not unpleasant. Once you get used to it, you might get addicted! The popular Blue Church is worth visiting and photo - op. #EuropeanTravel #Slovakia #Bratislava #BratislavaTravel
