Little Rock, Arkansas ππ¨
Drove through Little Rock, Arkansas, and decided to make a stop! π As the capital and largest city of the state, Little Rock has a population of around 190,000. Since it was a Saturday, the city felt pretty quiet and laid-back. ποΈπ Many people know Little Rock because of the historic Little Rock Nine event. βπΏπ In 1957, nine Black students enrolled in Little Rock Central High School, which had previously been all-white. The situation escalated when Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus, a supporter of segregation, initially blocked the students from entering. Eventually, President Eisenhower intervened and sent federal troops to ensure the students could safely attend classes. This became a defining moment in the U.S. civil rights movement. π Arkansas State Capitol 500 Woodlane St, Little Rock, AR 72201 ποΈ π Little Rock Central High School 1500 S Park St, Little Rock, AR 72202 π #LittleRock #Arkansas #USATravel #RoadTrip #SelfDrivingTour #LifeInTheUSA #TravelPhotography
