We just happened to be in Little Rock on the same weekend as the Capital Lighting and Fireworks. What a fun and exciting Tradition! We stopped at a local restaurant (The Blisspoint Family Grill) and got food to take to the outdoor lighting. On the back side of the Capital very near our parking spot were dozens of picnic tables. We sat and enjoyed our dinner and watched the amazing fireworks show! And when the Grand Finale came and all the building's lights came on we cheered out loud and yelled "Merry Christmas" along with many other visitors. What impressed us most was how incredibly festive the interior was and that we were able to roam freely throughout the whole building taking in all the wonderful sights and decorations. Read moreStopped in on a blistering hot humid Saturday with a severe storm bearing down so this was a quick walk-around visit.
Immense, impressive, this Capitol stands out. The grounds are well kept with statues and memorials dotting various points. I was heartened to see a memorial to Arkansas Confederate soldiers, no BLM nonsense tolerated here, nor any homeless encampments or litter. Immaculate and beautiful area.
Being a Saturday there were no tours, gift shop closed but I was able to sneak in an open back door to take a quick photo of the dome interior. I'll be back to take a proper tour in the future.

Read more1st time and learned the Treasury Office in Little Rocks Capital building is the only Treasury office in the USA that allows visors to see the vaults and hold the money. I held 600K, which weighs 21 lbs. I enjoyed all the marble. May is Specialty Court Month and on the 2nd floor in the rotunda speakers taking off the importance of specialty courts for the communities in AR.
