London | Even Heavy Snow Couldn’t Stop Me from Having This Pho
I’ve been craving pho lately, and when I saw a newly opened pho place, I knew I had to try it today! My friend and I ordered two main dishes and one appetizer. Here’s the breakdown: —————— 1️⃣ Fried Butter with Crispy Calamari 🌕🌕 This is butter-fried calamari. The squid wasn’t very crispy, and the butter made it quite greasy. Although there were pickled radishes to cut through the richness, I personally didn’t enjoy this dish. However, my friend thought it was good—it really depends on personal taste. If you’re a butter fan, give it a try! 2️⃣ Pho Bat Da 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 The special beef pho with beef bones is the star of the show. Don’t be fooled by its fancy presentation—this dish is the best on the menu. First off, the meat is very generous in quantity and incredibly tender. The tripe is fresh, and the beef tendons and oxtail are soft but not falling apart, which really impressed me. The broth is not salty but very flavorful; you can tell they put effort into it. What I can’t stop thinking about is the rice noodles! They reminded me of the fresh-cut rice noodles in Shantou. Of course, they’re not quite the same, but these are definitely the most rice-flavored noodles I’ve had in Little London. They’re chewy and smooth, and I really loved them! 3️⃣ Bun Cha Gio, Heo Nuong 🌕🌕🌕 Bun cha is another classic Vietnamese dish, and this place offers a generous amount of ingredients. Since I’ve been craving spicy food lately, I asked them to add some bird’s eye chilies to the sauce. I’m not sure if the sauce was a bit too sparse, but the overall flavor was a bit bland. However, the ingredients were flavorful enough to balance it out. It’s not the best I’ve ever had. I chose the pork version, which was sweet and savory and quite tender. The spring rolls were average to me, but my friend enjoyed them. There were also two small meat rolls wrapped in special leaves, which were quite refreshing and a nice touch. The Vietnamese luncheon meat was a bit dry and not very oily, so it’s more of a novelty to try occasionally. #LittleLondonCanada #LondonCanada #LondonCanadaFood #LondonCanadaLife
