Los Angeles | Sushi Inaba Omakase — A Perfectly Enjoyable Experience
A little tipsiness definitely makes everything taste even better 😉🍻 ••••• Quiet plaza, faint light glowing from an old-school Japanese restaurant… but behind the wooden sliding door lies another world. Inside, it’s spacious and bright — just 7 seats with comfortable spacing 👌🍽️ Chef Yasu is a total extrovert — super talkative and loves his drinks 🗣️🥂 He toasts with every course, cheering “Happy New Year!” each round. The waitress also joined in — looked flushed quickly but held her liquor like a pro! 😄🍾 Four regular Caucasian customers were there, alternating between sake, white wine, and Diet Coke — quite a unique pairing style 🥤🍷 Small groups make it easy to mingle — after a few rounds, everyone warmed up, chatting anding LA omakase spots. One tipsy foreigner praised 715 but still hailed Yasu as “LA’s best” 😉🏆 Next to us sat a middle-aged Korean couple. Right after sitting, they cracked open Dassai 23 🍶 and finished it in a few sips! Then they ordered Akitabare Suirakuten Junmai Daiginjo — got so merry they kept pouring for the chef and waitress, then turned to clink glasses with me… cheers to a full cup! 🥂 Fresh, clean taste with a pleasant sweetness ✨ Drawn to Kuheiji Betto Junmai Daiginjo “Eau du Désir” Yamada Nishiki on the sake menu, Chef explained its flavor changes as it warms 🌡️🍶 Aroma: consistent fruity and floral notes. First cup: chilled just how I like — fruity and fragrant, light body, perfectly semi-dry with a hint of sweetness. Left open at room temp, it gradually warmed — as temperature rose, more alcohol warmth and slight bitterness emerged. •••••• <<< Food Courses >>> [Soba, Hokkaido Murasaki Uni] Buckwheat noodles with Hokkaido purple sea urchin — seasoning just right, umami-forward, not too salty. Uni was sweet and fresh, temperature and texture perfect. Soba was pleasantly chewy, served with a chilled crab and Canadian uni sauce 🍜💜 [Tamaseiro Steamed Oyster] A bit salty, oyster was oversized and texture wasn’t the best. Sake in the sauce + freshly grated lime zest added a refreshing touch 🦪🍋 [Cod Milt (Shirako)] Absolutely loved this! 🥰 Rich, creamy, with a slight crisp outer layer — bursts with flavor when bitten into 💦🤤 📍 20920 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503 #LosAngeles #JapaneseFood #WeekendVibes #SakeLover #FoodDiary #WhatToEatAlone
