🍴SAKU restaurant 🔸Michelin: Selected restaurants -- A quality kitchen 🔹The best foreign chefs in Lyon 🇯🇵 A French-style restaurant run by a Japanese couple. It's a true husband-and-wife operation: cooking, serving, pouring wine, washing dishes, and cleaning the kitchen—all done by the two of them. 💃🕺They work efficiently, and the service is prompt without any delays. 🔅The food is quite delicious, reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. The neighborhood isn't particularly upscale, which might mean less rent pressure. 🏡 🪇They offer both lunch and dinner services, with slightly different menus. You can order à la carte or choose a 3- or 4-course meal set. ✔️I opted for the 4-course dinner set, plus some 🧀cheese and 🥧a dessert. The wife, who served us, speaks Japanese and French, but her English is a bit limited. I didn't know the names of some ingredients/dishes in Japanese either. 🫠She used her phone to translate and double-checked with me. 😂 🌈The ingredients are fresh and delicious, and the preparation isn't overly complicated. 🦑The squid was stuffed with 🌿spinach and pine nuts. 🌲I don't recall ever having a whole squid lying on a plate like that, but it was fresh and delicious! The combination of spinach and pine nuts was great—fragrant and soft, simply wonderful. 🥘For the main course, you can choose meat or fish. I took a chance and picked the monkfish. I had a bad experience with monkfish before, thinking it was too fatty, but this time it was completely delicious! 🐟The texture was firm and chewy, not greasy at all, and the 🌳seasonal vegetables were delightful. 🍰The dessert was quite good. The set included Mont Blanc, and I added an Apple spiral with cinnamon mousseline and Sichuan pepper ice cream. I was mainly curious about the Sichuan Pepper ice cream. The mousse had a unique flavor and a great texture. 🙋Fun fact: Saint Marcellin Cheese is a local cheese from Lyon. 🍷The wine selection is affordable but nothing extraordinary. I tried plum wine and grapefruit wine, and added a bottle of Kirin beer with the squid. 🍻It all went well together. #FranceTravel #Lyon #Bistro #MichelinRestaurantVisit #HiddenGem
