🍽️👩‍🍳 Restaurant Recommendations ✅La Chaya Maya Casona A restaurant in the historic district specializing in traditional Mayan cuisine. ✅I particularly enjoyed the complimentary appetizer dip, Sikil pak, and the Pan de cazón, a Yucatecan lasagna with layers of corn tortillas filled with black bean and shark meat purees, topped with a fresh tomato sauce. 🌴The Mayans use tree spinach (chaya) in their dishes and drinks, which is rich in Vitamin C, carotene, protein, fiber, and iron.👍 🌴 I highly recommend the chaya-based drinks, which are refreshing and thirst-quenching. My favorite was the pineapple-flavored one, Agua de chaya con piña. The grilled seafood and meat were decent. 🌀Catrin – A Mexican skull-themed restaurant with both outdoor and indoor seating, featuring outdoor performances 🎶. Traditional dishes, but the drinks were average. The shop also has a crafts counter.
