We visited this restaurant for 2 days in a row 25th and 26th of December, 2021. POSITIVE: The food was good. Our group of 5 enjoyed all the food but, our favorites were the Sopa de Lima (lime soup) and the cheesecake. The staff was attentive and the place has a good atmosphere. NEGATIVE: Everything is very overpriced. On the second day that we visited, we were truly disappointed to learn that the tip is included in the bill without the customer's knowledge nor consent. We only learned this because we were calculating the bill amount and our waiter, Gael, told us: "If the amount is not correct it's because the 15% tip is included". I appreciate the "honesty" but I think the only reason why he told us is because we were already doing the math. We were truly appalled. The night before our bill was almost 3000 mxn (with a 15% tip included) and we left our waiter at the time, Valerio, another 15% tip and he did not tell us that the tip was already included. He shamelessly got a 30% tip. It is outrageous! I have nothing against leaving a reasonable tip (for a good service) but this was a rip off. We are definitely not going back to that place. About the crafts: The guys that sell the crafts and textiles are just the middle men. Everything is super overpriced. They told us it was exclusive and it turns out it's exactly the same thing that you can find everywhere in Merida. They just charge more because they are inside the restaurant. I wonder how much of the ridiculous amount of money they sell the pieces for actually goes to the artisans. BOTTOM LINE: I don't recommend this place because even though the food is OK they are dishonest. If you still want to eat there, do yourself a favor and check the bill. Don't feel obligated to...
Read moreI work in sales, and I invited this man to our table because I wanted to see his pitch in action. And as one salesperson to another — I liked his structure. He was smooth. Charismatic. Well-rehearsed.
But that’s exactly what made it disgusting.
He kicked things off with a power play: “I own this building.” Then came the fake small talk, the performative interest in our shopping, and the egotistical slideshow — flipping through his camera roll full of real estate, rituals, and anything else that screamed “look how powerful I am.”
Then he launched into the script: “You’ve been hurt.” “Your aura is green.” “You’re too giving.” “You’re gifted.”
He said he didn’t take money for readings — and immediately walked me to Mundo Maya, the crystal shop next door that he also owns, where I was told I “needed” four stones for protection and balance. Price? Nearly $900 CAD. Blue amber. White jade. Red amber. Black jade. All absurdly overpriced.
This wasn’t spiritual guidance — it was a calculated emotional con. A manipulative, mystic-flavored upsell targeting tourists’ trauma and vulnerability. He’s not a guide. He’s a scammer in spiritual drag. A predator with a prayer bowl. A wealthy egomaniac selling sacredness like a product.
From one sales professional to another: You’re talented, but this is shameful. There’s a difference between persuasion and exploitation — and you’re deep in the latter.
He's lucky we liked the food and were already repeat customers, or this review would’ve burned more than just the spiritual side. But make no mistake: This man is running a high-gloss scam behind a linen curtain.
Do not fund businesses in 2025 that use human pain as their marketing funnel. Don’t fall for it. Watch the show. Just don’t...
Read moreThe Maitre D very judgemental young lady. I went in the night before to ask about the food they did she more or less ignored me. I returned today I admit I was hot and sweaty i asked for a menu and walked away which is very rude. The way she paraded herself she thinks she is a cut above everyone. A waiter took me to a table and proceeded to help with drinks and food order. In which time I observed how she dealt with other customers she was very obliging explaining the menu and showing them to their table. This made me really angry it seems she judged people on their appearance. I explained the situation to my waiter who understood I then had to explain it to another waiter who made the excuse her English is not good. I stopped him there and told him to listen to my explanation then he had a chat with another waiter at no point did the manager come over to find out what the issue was it was left to my waiter to make good of the situation. I was offered a free dessert I explained to the waiter it was not about him he had done a great job. I don’t complain I just wanted to make the point don’t judge people on how they look and what they are wearing that moment I could be waiting for a party of friends and we could spend lots. I don’t hold a grudge I still tipped well and the...
