🍽️Came for the food, stayed for the bumping music🎶 The complimentary chips and 4 very different salsas were a great start to the meal and it ready only got better from there. Pumpkin flower empanadas: Loved the avocado for cutting through the crispy and cheesy Empanadas. This appetizer was nice, ‘the calm before the taste storm’ that is to come. Gaoneras w/bone marrow: If the crispy cheese and beef fillet isn’t enough, the baked bone marrow will have you swooning! I can not recommend this enough. Chicken skewers: This came out good. Veggies were the hero here. I love it when something simple is done well. Pork belly BBQ: This was a miss for us. It was the salsa verde. We knew going in that it would be there we just didn’t know the Pork belly would be smothered in it. As I like to provide solutions: I wonder if the sauce could be provided on the side so the customer can add as they see fit? Otherwise, the pork belly itself was cooked well - the green salsa’s tangy-spicy flavors threw us. Cratin cookie: I LOVED THIS! A cookie that is half peanut butter half chocolate chip with vanilla ice cream and berry jam. What?! x3 Limonada x3 Margarita Total: 1,299 Pesos (~$65 US) Atmosphere: After reading the reviews I knew I wanted to try this place, the first night we tried and it was full so we came back the next day for a late lunch - it was well worth it. The real treat here is the music and the beautiful art. The outdoor area has a stage and fantastic mural. If you are on a tight schedule, I suggest booking beforehand. We want to return so I can try the other tacos!

Ps. We went back to try the other tacos, and we were not disappointed! I suggest the Black pork tacos - flavors were just spot on. Looking for a snack? Look no further than Muslitos fuego or Esquite Catrin. 🏆The real winner of our return was Esquite Catrin which is a play on...
Read moreWe were excited to try Catrin. After being turned away on a busy weekend evening we made sure to have a reservation for a dinner few days later. The hostess was very sweet and took us to a table for two in the courtyard where we could watch the light show with our dinner. However, the manager intervened and told her we needed to go back inside as they needed to use a number of tables for a group who wanted to move outside. We were taken to the bar where we ordered drinks before being then moved to a table for four inside by the door to the kitchen!! Fortunately our server was great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. The mezcal and mango cocktails he recommended were excellent. We ordered a number of dishes to share. Reviews varied from excellent to meh… The empanadas with pumpkin flowers were a hit. Tastefully plated with delicate and interesting flavors The tuna toasts had the potential to be great, but the chef was a little too heavy handed with the salt and left us wishing we had more water at the table. The shrimp tacos were a big disappointment. While the shrimp was well cooked and had a very pleasant freshly seasoned and grilled flavor, the dish was spoiled by wads of coagulated cheese. We left the restaurant thinking that we would give it another try if the opportunity came around. However, during the night we both experienced gastrointestinal distress…. Yes..insert Montezuma jokes here. It may have been a one off, but we have been in Merida for awhile now and this was our first experience with something like this. We won’t...
Read moreYesterday we went to Catrin, we saw online that their was a recommodation about the freshness of the used products in the dishes. So we were looking forward to eat a delissious fresh meal! But... We came in, place looks nice (but American, television screens with sports) So first impression was oke. Opened the menu to see the drinks and food, drinks first; wine inbetween 400/900 a bottle, kind of expensive, so we went for some sparkling water. We ordered two dishes from the menu; roasted vegetables and pulpo cevice. Quick service, but when we tasted the roasted vegetables it was not what we expected! Drained artificial bbq sauce, terrible! Pulpo, fried untill the taste disapeared, so not a nice cervice if you can imagen. We send the dishes back and explained why, what, how (thee times to different employes). They thanked us for the feedback, not a problem, this can happen, maybe take another look at your menu :) when we received the bill the sparking water was not on (the other dishes were, vegetables we didn't even touch!) But oke, sparking water from the house that's the least they could do for us we thought. We paid and went to the small store infront of the restaurant, we were looking at the stuff and than the waiter was coming at us "You didn't paid for you sparkling water!?" Like we did it on purpose??? So we said, we thought it was for free because of the terrible dishes?? She; euhh No! Sooooo..... We paid the rest, and we walked away! What a bad costumer service, experiance and food! We will not recommend this place...
