Madison|Heritage Tavern – We Like You 💚
Since I really love fish, my friend came along to eat fish with me 🐟. As a grateful soul, I kindly returned the favor by leaving all the mushrooms on my plate for my friend to eat 😌. This little episode teaches us that people who don’t eat mushrooms are more likely to find friends who will happily join them for fish. Some might find this conclusion absurd, but I think it makes perfect sense—after all, it’s drawn from real-life experience, with zero exaggeration. We had the pork belly + tuna + foie gras combo. Some might find the combination of raw tuna with cooked pork and foie gras a bit unusual… and honestly, it kind of is 🫢. Maybe the restaurant was going for innovation, but it didn’t feel entirely necessary. That said—it was still delicious! The sauce was sweet and tangy, the pork belly had perfect fat-to-lean ratio, and the little pineapple chunks tasted intensely like pineapple 🍍. The foie gras was also great, though I wish the outside had been crispier. My friend ordered the white fish & lobster 🐠🦞. I elegantly sampled a bite and thought it was tasty with a nice acidic kick. However, though my friend searched high and low, we couldn’t find any trace of lobster 😂. We concluded the “lobster” might be hiding in the foam… The fish I ordered was incredibly tender, and the sauce was amazing! 🎣 Loved the roe on top—added a great texture. The little crispy pastry on top was also delightful. But underneath… so many mushrooms 😅. Although for someone who doesn’t eat mushrooms, the U.S. is a great place—you’ll definitely never find shiitakes here! Two crazy ladies also ordered $40 worth of desserts 🍰… Felt pretty overpriced ngl. The Thai tea cake didn’t really taste like Thai tea to me. The petit fours had one standout—the strawberry one was delicious! 🍓 The rest were just okay. Might be better off getting the Beautiful Mess from Bloom next time… Overall, really liked this place! All three dishes had their own highlights ✨. The ambiance and service were great too—they even gave us a window seat! 🪟 #Madison #Travel
