From one hungry foodie to another—here’s my take on Korean spots in town! 5 Star Korean BBQ 🌟 Only been once. It was freezing that day 🥶, and we walked forever… so maybe I was just extra hungry, but the food felt warm and comforting lol. Pro tip: If you’re worried the food might be mid, just walk there in winter 🚶❄️. I only tried tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and soon tofu soup—both were solid! Heard their fried chicken is good too. Sol’s on the Square – Probably the most popular one? Every time winter hits, I crave warm, calorie-heavy Korean food 🍲. Weekend waits are real—be prepared! My ranking: 🥇 Kimchi Beef Fried Rice – A must-order every time! Great shared as a side—too rich to eat alone as a main. 🥈 Short Ribs – Classic sweet & savory Korean flavor. Sadly, I always struggle chewing the meat 😅. 🥉 Fried Chicken – Super crispy with tangy sauce… but gets heavy after a few pieces. 4️⃣ Soon Tofu Soup – Perfect with rice! 5️⃣ Stews – Pork bone (gamjatang) 👍 – big meat pieces, mild and slightly sweet. Skip the beef stew. Also not a fan of their bibimbap or kimchi pancake. Even their army stew is just okay. SGD Dubu 😏 – Right on State Street Braved a snowstorm on Valentine’s Day to eat here ❄️❤️. Usually has a line! Recommendations: 🥩 Short Ribs – Better than Sol’s (and prettier plating!). That’s it lol… everything else is meh. Their ramen-added tofu soup tastes worse than just making Shin Ramyun at home 🍜. Secret Spot: The Bulgogi Taco Food Truck 🚗✨ Silver truck in front of Memorial Library – says “Bulgogi Taco” on it. Only tried their fried rice – not amazing, but it’s close to campus and cheap!
