Marseille | Can Such a Place Truly Exist?

Cassis is a small port town under Marseille. It offers numerous hiking routes, leading through fjords, limestone cliffs, and wine regions. It's the most beautiful place I've ever been to, hands down! 🌍 I stayed on a small street in the town. In the morning, I walked uphill, passing through the port and a quiet villa area, and then started the hike on the Route des Crêtes de Cassis. This route connects the Calanques between Cassis and Marseille, with a round - trip distance of 8 kilometers. I had lunch by the sea, took a swim in a shallow beach in the afternoon, and returned to my accommodation in the evening. The walking time alone was about 5 hours. For the Calanque part, many paths are made of irregular stone steps, so a hiking pole would be even better. 🥾 In photo 8, it's a yacht harbor I passed by on the way back after coming down from the cliff. There were so many fish in the clear water, but I couldn't get a good shot of them. I did manage to capture a small crab, though. Why is it so much darker in color than the ones in the Atlantic (from the previous hiking article)? 🦀 The shallow beach in photo 15 was a welcome sight after three hours of walking under the hot sun. I really wanted to take a dip. Even though I was alone, I left everything on the shore and rushed into the water. This memory is truly special. That's the charm of traveling alone, isn't it? 😎 Surprisingly, Cassis is also a well - known wine - producing area in the Provence region, famous for its white wine (Vin Blanc de Cassis). It's one of the few AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) regions in Provence that mainly produce white wine, and it's also one of the earliest regions in France to obtain AOC certification. 🍷 The dry white wine here, paired with fresh seafood, especially tuna and Niçoise salad, provides a very local food - and - wine experience. I'll write about my visit to the famous local winery Clos Sainte Magdeleine ten years ago sometime later. 🍣🥗 #France #FranceTravel #SouthernFrance #MediterraneanDiet #HikingAroundTheWorld #IThinkICapturedALifePhoto #SeasAroundTheWorld #SportsInfluenceProgram #TravelPhotographyBlockbusters #FujifilmStraightFlash
