Marseille | The Most Information-Packed Meal I’ve Ever Had
✨AM Par Alexandre Mazzia 11/18/2023 ✨There are quite a few three-Michelin-star restaurants that could be listed in a textbook, but when it comes to earning the title of an encyclopedia, I believe AM is the only one that truly fits the bill. ✨It was somewhat surprising to me that such a cutting-edge and hardcore restaurant exists in the small city of Marseille. Until I actually visited this place, my stereotypical views of French three-Michelin-star restaurants were completely shattered. ✨There’s no grand entrance of a luxury hotel, no high-ceilinged chandeliers, and no spacious white-clothed round tables. AM feels no different from those Brooklyn wine bars. The entrance is modest and low-key. The interior is cramped, and with just four or five tables, it inevitably becomes noisy and crowded. The decor is definitely not what you’d expect from a typical three-star restaurant. It’s a plain black-and-wood theme that any café could easily replicate. The most eye-catching feature is probably the collection of car models displayed on the wooden shelves. ✨The service here is also quite unique. I arrived about fifteen minutes earlier than my reservation time, but after being seated, no one brought water, no one handed me a wine list, and no one gave me a menu. I was literally left to wait until the exact reservation time before anyone came to greet me. #FrenchMichelin #MichelinRestaurantVisit #SouthFrenchMichelin #MarseilleFood
