Marseille - Fjords, Old Docks and a 2 AM Hospital Emergency

Marseille - Fjords, Old Docks and a 2 AM Hospital Emergency Before I came here, I never would have imagined staying so long in this southern French city, the "North African capital". It's been almost half a month. The light and shadow in the photo album, the hot air and the coolness of the sea water, seem to have passed a long time ago. It's funny to think about it. We left Mexico City to "live abroad" in Europe and try out the possibilities of life. After running around for two months, we had to stop here, but slowly returned to the rhythm of life.❤️ Last week, the city experienced the second hottest July in French history. The temperature was over 35 degrees every day, making it hard to breathe. My partner had been suffering from stomach problems for nearly two weeks with no improvement. A French friend suggested getting a blood test. Little did I expect that the long four days ahead would start from the afternoon when we got the blood test results.💕 My friend's house is in the suburbs. The GP at the clinic glanced at the blood test results before getting off work and said, "You must go to the hospital emergency room immediately." The receptionist kindly called an ambulance for us, saying that the supermarket across the street was still open and told us to hurry up and buy some food, then locked the door and left work.😂 We held half - eaten sandwiches in our hands, watching the ambulance approaching with its siren blaring. The next thing I clearly remember is rushing to another big hospital in the morning, seeing him on the hospital bed, haggard, unshaven and on an IV drip, saying that he needed an operation.❤️ If there's one thing I felt during these days of taking care of my partner, it's the dissolution of the "self" and the compression of time. From the operation on Thursday afternoon to his discharge on Saturday, and by Monday, he was finally able to tell jokes with a twinkle in his eyes. I kept talking to myself: How do I feel? Where exactly am "I"?👌 In my meditation, I remembered that evening when I took a boat to a nearby island with friends. I jumped into the clear water from the limestone. The salty sea water poured into my nostrils, but the coolness all over my body made me scream with excitement. ❤️ I looked at the golden sky and the pink - purple waves, held my breath and let my body float with the waves in the bay. This makes me feel grateful. Even though my body is trapped in endless anxiety, fear, uncertainty and to - do lists, I'm grateful that my senses still remember that moment of freedom.👌 Finally, after the storm, the temperature in Marseille dropped. I sat in a small corner bistro, feeling the wind on my face, and finally got to drink a spritz in a comfortable temperature. Fortunately, there are still fjords, natural taverns, brightly colored vegetables and jazz festivals here. And after writing this, I finally made peace with my escaped self. Let's start over. Everything will be all right.😒 #Marseille #EndlessSummer#Marseille #Provence #DayTrip #FranceTravel #Calanques #VieuxPort #CityVsNature
