Marseille Food Map: Vieux-Port

Arriving in Marseille after a half-day train ride, I was already starving. I randomly searched for a nearby restaurant to check out. Maybe it wasn’t the weekend, but I easily booked a same-day table on their official website. The restaurant’s location is great—the elevated design gives it a wide, open view, making the whole space feel bright and comfortable 🌞. The complimentary bread before the meal came with olive oil dip. My friend summed it up: “Olive oil + sweet bean sauce!” Whether it actually had sweet bean sauce or not, the dip was quite rich. I don’t usually like olives, but I ate tons of bread with this dip—it got more flavorful the more I chewed 😋. The fried shrimp appetizer was delicious. The shrimp were large, with fresh, tender meat. The cooking method was simple, but the freshness of the ingredients really shined 🦐. you might as well try this place. It's cheap and delicious! The service is also warm and attentive. It's so pleasant to sit in the small yard, soak up the sun, and feel the breeze. Moreover, the food is served very quickly here; you won't have to spend an hour or two eating. Later, we found that all the restaurants on Mazargues Street are delicious! There's also a super delicious bakery and dessert shop (I'll write about it later).❤️ The bouillabaisse is said to be a modified version (I’ve never had authentic Marseille bouillabaisse). Compared to the fish soup I had in Paris, this one wasn’t fishy at all. There were about two or three types of fish in it—one with red skin was a bit too salty, but the others paired well with the broth. The crispy bread with the soup was perfect—one spoon was all I needed to dig in 🥣. The octopus was also tasty, similar to the fried shrimp—simple cooking but super fresh and chewy 🐙. After finishing with a small dessert, a two-minute walk took me to Vieux-Port to digest. It was truly healing for both body and mind 💕! #Marseille #MarseilleFoodHunt #MarseilleCuisine #MarseilleFoodTour #MarseilleTravel #FranceCharter
