Marseille Old Port Seafood Restaurant! A Must-Visit for Oyster Lovers

The internet didn't lie! I visited a highly recommended seafood restaurant, and it was truly amazing! If you love oysters and sea urchins, this place is a must! Many locals also frequent this spot. 📌 Address: 28 Quai du Port, 13002 Marseille, France It's easy to find, located right on the street of restaurants in the Marseille Old Port! We didn't order a platter but picked our favorite items individually, which were all served together on a large plate. Must-Order Dishes: 1️⃣ Gillardeau Oysters 🦪 The restaurant offers a variety of oysters, but I came to France specifically for the Gillardeau oysters, and they are truly unique. I've had raw oysters before, but they often tasted fishy and were hard to enjoy. However, the Gillardeau oysters here are different. They have a slight briny taste, but overall, they are fresh, sweet, and smooth. We ordered the No. 2 size, and each one was large, plump, and had a natural sheen. Each shell even has a unique engraving to ensure authenticity. They cost 26 euros for a half-dozen. 2️⃣ Live Sea Urchins Almost every table ordered sea urchins. This was my first time trying them in Europe, and they cost 20 euros for six. The texture is incredibly delicate and creamy, much like a dense custard. They are much fresher than the sea urchins I've had at Japanese restaurants, allowing you to taste the true flavor of the ingredient. Although the preparation wasn't perfectly clean, the freshness was undeniable. 3️⃣ Large Shrimp 🍛 As a huge shrimp lover, I was thrilled with these. The shrimp were enormous, with firm and bouncy meat. They can be enjoyed with mayonnaise, and the roe in the shrimp heads is quite abundant. However, if you grew up by the sea and are used to boiled shrimp, this might not be a must-order. The large size costs 13.5 euros for six. 4️⃣ Spicy Conch I ordered this based on a friend's recommendation, and it was fantastic. Unlike regular boiled conch, this version has a special touch of spiced chili powder. While I'm not a huge fan of the texture of conch, the freshness was top-notch. 💰 Average Spend: Around 30 euros per person. 🌟 The restaurant is clean and tidy, and you can even watch the seafood being prepared in the kitchen. I've heard that the breaded crab is also excellent, and I'm looking forward to trying it next time. ⚠️ Note: The restaurant can get quite busy during lunchtime, with both tourists and many local customers. Be prepared to wait for a table! The seafood here is mainly served cold or raw, so if you're not used to this style of preparation, you might want to think twice before trying it. #Oysters #Seafood #Conch #GillardeauOysters #MarseilleFrance #Foodie
