Marseille
Southern France is truly stunning š A day aboard the MSC cruise ship Port Address ā MĆ“le LĆ©on Gourret Thereās a free government shuttle bus connecting the port and the city center, but it only starts operating at 9 AM, so we disembarked at 8:30. After getting off the ship, we followed the green landmarks on the ground for 20 minutes and found a shelter with a long queue. Not sure why the road we took was so congestedāwhat should have been a few-minute ride took 40-50 minutes š« 9:00 AM: The shuttle bus departed Around 10:00 AM: Arrived in the city center. Itās a 20-minute walk to the Petit Train de Marseille (Little Train of Marseille), passing by the cathedral, several museums, and Vieux Portāperfect for photos šø Around 10:20 AM: Reached the little train boarding point to buy tickets. The queue was still long, but trains run every 10 minutes, so it moved quickly. š Adult tickets: ā¬10; children: ā¬5. Only Line 1 operates in winter. 10:50 AM: Boarded the train. It plays English commentary on (attractions along the way) ā and thereās Chinese commentary too! It gets windy when driving along the coast, so bundle up š§£ 11:10 AM: Arrived at Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde. Get off here (you donāt have to take the same train back). Take time to explore the basilicaāitās Marseilleās highest point, offering 360° views of the entire city š 12:20 PM: Took the return little train 12:40 PM: Back at the Vieux Port little train boarding point 12:50 PM: Walked (3 minutes) to the nearby restaurant Au bout du quai for lunch. Highly recommended!!! š Spent the afternoon wandering casually. In the end, we didnāt want to wait for the shuttle bus (afraid of traffic issues again), so we took a Bolt taxi. Splitting the fare among 6 people made it quite (cost-effective) š #Europe #Travel #France #Marseille #NightViews #HarborVibes
