McKinney, TX—Little “Croatia”?

Another spur-of-the-moment girls’ road trip 🚐. Texas travel accounts on IG had us hooked, so we drove 4+ hours north… only to hit brutal 5 p.m. traffic on Dallas’ US-75—avoid that slot if you can! The so-called “Croatian” village 🏡 turned out to be a brand-new 55+ retirement community. Still, the cobbled lanes, bell tower, church and red-tile roofs are photogenic—especially if you show up in a floaty white dress like we did. We spotted several girls in quinceañera-style ball gowns doing senior portraits. ⁉️ Amenities? One convenience store, a couple of restaurants, one café. We visited on a weekday—absolute ghost town. We were so stunned we forgot to photograph the streets; everything looked freshly unwrapped. ✅ Verdict: worth the stop for photos only. After the shoot we drove to McKinney’s Town Center for dinner 🥘🌮. Harvest had live music (guitar + sax + drums) and a great vibe. Later we hit The Old Crow on Lowest Greenville for a sparkling water nightcap 💦. The real win? Stumbling into Bishop Arts Ave—our accidental happy ending ❤️. #Travel #RoadTrip #DallasWeekend #SpontaneousAdventure
