MDRD Deserves All the Praise 😢

I waited two whole weeks to book a table at this Spanish restaurant—perfect for dates—and they even seated us by the window! The sunset view from the 27th floor was absolutely breathtaking 🌅. From the food to the ambiance, everything was top-tier. The restaurant updates its menu every season, though I was a little sad I couldn’t try the few dishes I’d been craving 😢. Still, even ordering blindly meant no misses—such a relief! Tapas (Appetizers) 1️⃣ Mojilones Y Chorizo (Mussels with Spanish Chorizo) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The crusty bread that came with it was delicious, but the mussels tasted like your average mussels—nothing too standout, but still fresh 🦪. 2️⃣ Empanada De Rabo De Toro (Oxtail Empanadas) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I hate the taste of goat cheese usually, but this dish paired it with caramelized onions 🧅, and the combination was amazing! The oxtail inside was tender, and the pastry was flaky—total surprise hit. Platos Principales (Main Courses) 1️⃣ Chuleta Iberíco (Iberian Pork Neck) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It didn’t have a strong porky flavor and smelled great, but I’m not a big pork fan—so it was just “okay” for me. If you love pork, though, you’d probably adore it 🐷. 2️⃣ Ora King Salmon Al Horno (Oven-Roasted Ora King Salmon) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute perfection! The salmon had a crispy outer layer, and it was served with rosemary citrus rice—drizzled with garlic-infused olive oil, the aroma alone made my mouth water 🐟. If you love salmon, this is a must-order—you won’t regret it! Dessert We only got one dessert: I originally wanted the popular marshmallow dish everyone raves about, but it was taken off the menu with the seasonal update 😕. The lemon cake we got instead was solid—four stars! It was tangy, not too sweet, and a nice way to end the meal 🍰. In total, we spent $230—including two mocktails and an alcohol-free beer. With tips, it came out to $280, so about $140 per person 💰. All in all, it lived up to the expectations of a fine-dining spot. Maybe it helped that we had a terrible experience at Ruth's Chris Steak House last week—comparison really makes the heart grow fonder! Anyway, this was one of the most pleasant fine-dining surprises lately, and I highly recommend it~ Address: 187 Monroe Ave NW (FL 27), Grand Rapids, MI #100RestaurantExplorationPlan #AnnArborFood #MichiganWeekendGuide #LansingFoodExploration #LansingFood #MichiganStateUniversity
