Michigan | Mexican Cheese Lava Pot on a Snowy Day 🐷
Even though it’s already March, Michigan was hit with a heavy snowfall—everything was covered in a thick blanket of white, and snowflakes fell nonstop ❄️! Right after school on Friday, I met up with friends for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. As someone who eats Mexican food often, this place still blew me away: the decor was elegant, and the restaurant was surprisingly spacious, with warm lighting that felt super inviting ✨. We ordered drinks first: a classic Margarita cocktail 🍸 (tangy and refreshing, perfect for cutting through rich food) and Jarrioto Tamarindo (tamarind juice—sweet with a hint of tartness, so cozy on a snowy day). The absolute star of the meal? The Molcajete—a traditional Mexican dish served in a cute little pig-shaped bowl made of natural lava stone 🐷! Inside, there was a hearty mix of tender chicken, fall-off-the-fork beef, savory pork, and plump shrimp, all paired with fresh cactus, zesty chili peppers, ripe tomatoes, and oozing melted cheese 🧀. It also came with crisp salad, fluffy rice, and warm corn tortillas to wrap everything up. The beef was so tender it melted in my mouth, and when mixed with the gooey cheese, the aroma was impossible to resist—my taste buds were in heaven 😋! This adorable pig pot totally melted my heart on a chilly snowy day… (๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑) One pot is more than enough for two people—it’s huge! And it only cost $25, which is such a good deal. My friend ordered another signature dish: a massive plate of grilled meat 🍖, with perfectly charred edges and juicy insides. Pro tip for Mexican restaurants: skip the usual tacos, burritos, or quesadillas (they’re often Americanized and less authentic) and go straight for the “House Specials” section—those are the real stars 🌟! Of course, my personal favorite Mexican dish is still Cocktail de mariscos (seafood cocktail), and this restaurant had tons of fun options too: fruit smoothie cocktails 🍓 and spicy-sour Mexican-style cocktails that sounded amazing. (≧▽≦) I’m already planning my next visit to try more of their menu! Address: Fiesta Charra, East Lansing, MI. There are also locations in East Lansing and Lansing—super convenient no matter which part of the area you’re in! #HiddenGemRestaurant #Cuisine #GlobalFoodieSquad #MexicanFood #CheesePot #GrilledMeat #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #MichiganFood #MichiganStateUniversity
