Monterey Montreux | French Cuisine Recommendation | Bistro Moulin

I honestly hesitate to recommend this French restaurant because it’s way too delicious. Every time we’re in Monterey, we make sure to visit here. The menu is quite small, but practically every dish is a winner—no misses at all! We’ve almost tried everything on the menu, and each time we leave totally satisfied. Here’s what we had today. 🍽️ Sea bass: The base is creamy, but the fish is topped with sauerkraut and tomatoes, which cuts through the richness perfectly. Plus, the fish is crispy on the outside and tender inside 🤤 🍽️ Red seafood chowder: The first bite was incredibly fresh! The soup has the sweetness of tomatoes without the tartness, just pure seafood umami 👅 🍽️ Filet Mignon: Mixed with brandy, and the taste of wine lingers in your mouth long after each bite 🍷 🍽️ Homemade Tiramisu: Who knew a French restaurant’s dessert could be not-too-sweet but packed with wine flavor? The cream is super fresh—I ate the whole thing and didn’t feel greasy at all 😋 We also highly recommend the Moules Frites and confit de canard! Tonight, we got lucky and chatted with the chef-owner. He was born in France, traveled the world, and even worked at a casino in Montreux, Switzerland, for two years. But he’s retiring soon and has sold the restaurant. I told him if this place closes, I’ll lose my reason to visit Monterey. He reassured me that his team and the menu will stay the same, though—phew! 📍 867 Wave St, Monterey, CA 93940 Price per person: $60-$125 #monterey #montereyrestaurants #montereymichelin #hiddengemrestaurant #frenchcuisine #frenchrestaurant #montereytown #montereyfood #montereyfrenchfood
