Montreux – A family-style garden restaurant so delicious it’s explosiv

Restaurant du pont French Restaurant🇫🇷 Tucked away halfway up a hillside, this garden-style restaurant sits next to a small waterfall. Snowmelt flows from the mountain top down to Lake Geneva, making the scenery absolutely unbeatable 🏞️. The restaurant isn’t large – the interior decor is warm and cozy, and there are two small gardens outside, which the owners have decorated exquisitely. On not-too-cold days, dining outdoors for lunch is incredibly pleasant 😊. What draws people here isn’t just the setting – the food is also so worth it. The main dish of prawns here has the largest portion I’ve seen in Switzerland for the price. I was genuinely shocked when it arrived; it was the first time I’d seen so many prawns on a plate – a lovely surprise! Not only is the portion generous, but the flavor is amazing too. Before the dish even reached the table, the rich garlic aroma hit me, totally irresistible 🍤. All main courses let you choose your side and whether to add seasonal veggies. Sides include rice (Italian-style, on the firm side) and fries. The fries here are special – not the frozen kind, but homemade thin fries, crispy and flavorful. Apart from being a bit oily, they’re highly recommended 🍟. Other meat mains like grilled lamb chops and pan-seared steak are also great – the meat quality is excellent, and they’re cooked to perfection. Highly recommended! The menu also has horse meat – I haven’t tried it, but if you’re curious, go for it haha. The landlady says it’s a recommended dish 🐎! The landlady is super nice and enthusiastic. She almost only speaks French, but we still have a great chat every time – a mix of broken English and basic French 😂. Don’t worry, there’s an English menu, so ordering is hardly a problem. The only downside is that it’s a bit far: about a 20-minute walk from the town center, or you can take a bus. Oh, and after eating here a few times, I’ve found the dishes are a bit on the salty side. If that bothers you, feel free to mention it when ordering. #Switzerland #SwitzerlandTravel #FoodieTravelDiaries #FamousFoodIEndorse #TheMeaningOfTravel #ImAFoodie #EuropeanTravelGuide #ILoveSeafood
