MoS|DC French-style Tipsy Evenings 🥂✨

The Banneker blends minimalist design with warm tones, accented by abstract art. The French bistro Le Sel on the first floor adds a touch of Parisian charm 🥖. Our 1 King Premium room was upgraded to the best available room below the suite level—essentially a studio layout. Note: bathtubs are only available in suites 🛁. While there’s no separate living room, the space includes a comfortable sofa and a functional work desk. The bathrobes were a highlight—just the right thickness, with a cozy sweatshirt-like feel instead of the usual towel texture! 👌 That “tipsy” feeling? That’s a Kimpton signature 🍷. Nearly every location hosts a daily evening wine social where guests can enjoy a complimentary glass of red or white. We also tried a cocktail from Le Sel (included in the under-$30 Daily Guest Amenity fee, which also offers 15% off dining at the bistro!). Dinner at Le Sel was delightful 😋. With the 15% discount and the option to bring in wine from the social hour, plus dishes that offered little surprises in flavor, it felt like great value. The neighborhood is beautiful and peaceful, filled with historic buildings, residences, and embassies 🏛️. From the hotel on 16th Street, you can glimpse the White House! The rooftop bar, Lady Bird, offers views of the Washington Monument—though it’s closed in winter, so we didn’t get to visit. Overall, the Banneker beautifully connects DC’s famous landmarks with its charming, tree-lined residential vibe 🌳. Have you stayed at a Kimpton before? What’s your favorite boutique hotel memory?
