Must Try Detroit’s Middle Eastern Baked Fish! Yemeni Coffee Spot?

Leaving Detroit soon and really wanted to try some baked fish! I looked into these spots: Dearborn Meat Market Locally recommended, but closed the day I went — over 2k reviews though, seems worth a visit. Al Ameer Said to have been visited by Bill Clinton — realized I’d been here before with Middle Eastern friends and had meat (wasn’t wow then, but portions are huge!). This time tried the red snapper baked — so fresh and tender! Very lightly seasoned, delicious on its own 🐟✨. Got two sauces on the side: a tangy spicy tomato one (yum!) and a yogurt-based white sauce (just okay). Waiter was super nice — said the sauces are usually for white fish, but gave them anyway. (P.S. Tap water there… better not drink it 😅) Aliz Seafood and Grill House Reviews mentioned slow service, dirty restrooms, long waits — had a flight to catch so didn’t risk it, but it’s a dedicated seafood spot and looks promising. Al Chabab Doesn’t seem to have seafood, but quite famous. Darbunah Restaurant After eating, I went to Qahwah House — this place is about history (they have locations in NY too). With 2.4k reviews, I was intrigued… 🍵 Yemeni Tea — staff said not to add milk or it ruins the aroma. Started simple but grew on me — cardamom, clove, light cinnamon (good, since I usually don’t like strong cinnamon). Loved it so much I bought half a pound of tea bags to take home! Adei Tea — kind of like milk tea but a bit astringent, just okay. Very kind staff gave me a big cup to try 🧡. Also tried their coffee — quite bitter. They have Mofawar coffee too — let me smell the grounds (fragrant!), but I didn’t buy since I don’t have a coffee machine. Their desserts looked good too! #Detroit #Food #BakedFish #MiddleEasternFood #ChicagoGetaway #YemeniCoffee #DetroitEats #FishLovers #TeaTime #FoodExploration 🐠☕🌿
