Must-visit city 12 in the UK 🇬🇧: Newcastle - Day 1
Newcastle bursts with vitality under the blazing sun—every person and every puppy is brimming with joy, as if Easter has brought new life right here. It’s a 2.5-hour drive from Sydney, or there are 3-hour direct trains. You can make a day trip, but staying overnight at a beachside hotel is highly recommended to truly soak in the city’s energy. We stayed at Novotel this time. 🌊 I think this viewpoint is absolutely stunning—surprisingly, no Newcastle guides on Xiaohongshu have captured it. Navigate to Anne Feneley Lookout; there’s street parking everywhere. Stand at the corner of the road and look down Watt St for this view. A telephoto lens would make the shot even better. 🍹 Newcastle Beach: Head to Beach Life at Newcastle SLSC, a club where you can enjoy light meals and drinks with sea breezes. There’s often live music here. 🏊 Bogey Hole: A seawater pool hand-carved by convicts under military supervision in 1819, nestled in rocks with exposed sea cliffs around it. The tide naturally fills and drains the pool. 🏖️ Newcastle’s most famous landmark, the vintage Newcastle Ocean Baths. With a cinematic vibe, it features Greek Revival-style changing pavilions and grand staircases—every snapshot looks like a magazine spread. Come before dusk; the water’s perfect then, no harsh sun. The energy and freedom practically leap out of the photos. Next door, the shallow Newcastle Canoe Pool is great for kids to splash around. 🌄 Beaches near Nobbys Lighthouse 🛹 South Newcastle Beach Skate Park, right by the shore 🥞 Bottom of Figure 17 & Bottom of Figure 18: Autum Rooms on Darby Street. A brunch spot where the food and coffee live up to the hype—their coffee categories are incredibly detailed. 🚂 Old Newcastle Train Station: A charming vintage shopping arcade with a nice café, Tabnabs. #newcastle #newcastlelife #sydneylife #australia #australiatravel #australialife #downunderdaily #seaoftheworldsend
