My friend's Top1 Malaysian dish | A little-known Boston restaurant
š Penang Malaysian Cuisine: Bostonās Malaysian SpotāSolid, but Room for More This place has a huge menu and friendly Chinese staff, which is a plusābut as someone new to Malaysian food, I canāt help but think there might be better spots out there. Still, itās a solid pick for a casual meal, with a few dishes that really stand out. š The Standouts (Worth Ordering) Sambal Kangkong : 4 stars, my favorite. Wok-charred water spinach tossed in pungent shrimp pasteāgarlicky, slightly spicy, and so addictive, I went out and bought a jar of shrimp paste to replicate it at home. A must-try. Bah Kut Teh : 4.5 stars, grows on you. Malaysiaās iconic herbal pork rib soupāstrong medicinal notes at first (think star anise and cinnamon), but the more I sipped, the more I loved it. Tender ribs, plenty of meat, and a broth that warms you from the inside out. My friend was obsessed from the first spoonful. Shrimp Dish (name forgotten!): 4 stars, versatile. Theyāve got multiple shrimp preparations, and the one we tried was flavorfulāfresh, well-seasoned, and a great protein pick. Ask the staff for recommendations! š The āMehā Penang Satay: 3.5 stars, Thai does it better. Skewered meat with peanut sauceātender enough, but the sauce lacks depth. Iāll stick to Thai satay for that rich, nutty, slightly spicy kick. šø Verdict Itās a solid introduction to Malaysian foodāaffordable, with generous portions and friendly service. The shrimp paste are worth the trip, but Iām still on the hunt for mind-blowing Malaysian in Boston. š Penang Malaysian Cuisine: Bostonās reliable Malaysian pickāgreat for trying something new. #BostonMalaysian #SoutheastAsianEats #FoodieExploration
