National Gallery of Art - The National Art Museum
📍Hands down the best museum to visit in DC. The architecture, the interaction with greenery, and the exhibition layout are all excellent. I ended up wandering around for over five hours without even realizing it. Along the way, I met a painter who was copying a piece of artwork and learned that some exhibits allow you to apply for permission to copy, and you can choose the piece you want to copy within a certain range. 📍 Some Tips for Visiting: If you enter through the north entrance, go up one level to the main floor and then turn left to find the special Impressionist exhibition “Paris 1874: The Impressionist Moment,” which continues until January next year. If your schedule permits, I suggest making the National Gallery your first stop of the day. After opening at 10 am, head straight to the Impressionist exhibition because many locals come specifically for the special exhibit. If you go early on a weekday, you’ll probably only have to wait about 5 minutes. 📍I recommend exploring the main floor first and then heading down to the ground floor. The main floor is predominantly paintings, while the ground floor features more sculptures, furniture, and photography. Besides the special exhibit, the 19th-century French paintings in rooms 80-93 on the main floor are also worth seeing, including quite a few Impressionist works. There are currently two photography exhibitions on the ground floor that are quite interesting. 📍Additionally, there are about three or four sections on the main floor that are not open at the moment. However, the remaining exhibitions are more than enough to keep you occupied for a long time. If you have the energy, you can also check out the East Building (the main building is the West Building), which features modern art exhibitions, and you can see half of the Capitol building from the rooftop. #Travel #USA #Washington #Museum #ArtGallery #SoloExhibitionVisit
