Nepal travel--Patan Durbar Square

【Patan Durbar Square】 🌈Patan, meaning "Commerce City," is also known as Lalitpur, which translates to "City of Arts." It is a hub for handicrafts, particularly renowned for wood carving, stone carving, and copperware. ✨This city, one of the oldest in Nepal, was established in 298 AD and served as the capital of the independent Patan Kingdom, a fragment of the Malla Dynasty, for 270 years starting from the late 15th century. 🩵In the square, there is the Krishna Temple (Figure 1), which is a rare sight and features Indian-style architecture. 🥰There is a museum on the premises that charges an admission fee, which can be combined with the square's entrance ticket. The museum was formerly the residence of the king and includes his small garden. 🎫Admission: 1000 rupees per person, and you can purchase the tickets at a museum located beyond a large golden gate after entering. ✨Other Temple Attractions: 🩵Shree Bagalamukhi Temple: Known for the large tree at its entrance, this temple is a place where people pray for marriage and relationships. 🩵Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple): Built in the 12th century with the main structure dating back to the 19th century, it belongs to the Shakya clan. Members of this family take turns serving as the temple's chief priest each month, and whoever serves, receives the temple's offerings for that month. 🩵Ashok Stupa (Ibahi Thoor): A hemispherical stupa said to be built by Emperor Ashoka of the Maurya Dynasty in the 3rd century BC during his visit to the area, though this cannot be verified. #Nepal#Patan#PatanDurbarSquare#Lalitpur#HiranyaVarnaMahavihar#tripdiary#travelguide#Nepaltrip#Lalitpur#panta#Ashok Stupa
