During the four-day break in April, the whole family went to Niagara-on-the-Lake (aka NOTL) in Canada—right next to Niagara Falls 👨👩👧👦. If you’re interested, you can Google the town’s history. I think its standout feature is the entire town’s English old-town style, and wineries are everywhere! 🏰 The reason there are so many wineries here mainly comes down to the lake effect, which creates a big temperature difference (warm during the day, cool at night) and mild winters with cool summers. Plus, spring arrives early here, which is perfect for grapes to grow slowly 🌱. The soil is similar to that of Burgundy, France, and there’s a good variety of grape types too. I used to think Canada only specialized in ice wine, but this time I realized that besides ice wine, most wineries mainly promote more common varieties like pinot, cabernet, and chardonnay 🍇. There are just too many wineries, and they’re super dense—we only visited a few. The most impressive one was Two Sisters Winery, highly recommended by a good friend. It was founded by two female friends 👭. Besides wine tasting, we went to one of their two restaurants, 11th Post—a name that’s also their best-selling red wine 🍷. The sommelier told us that the 2020 vintages they’re currently selling are the most recommended, because that year had higher temperatures, which really brought out the flavors. The restaurant itself has a fancy farmhouse decor 🧺, and the menu is simple. The roasted chicken I ordered (as seen in the photo) was absolutely delicious! 😋 Unfortunately, both the winery’s tasting room and the restaurant are adult-only. Also, in April, many wineries’ patio seats weren’t open yet—they’ll start opening in May when the temperature gets a bit higher ☀️. The town will be even more charming once spring blooms! #Niagara #NiagaraFalls #niagara
