Ninnaji Temple: Deep Royal Connections and Famous Cherry Blossoms ๐ฟ๐ Ninnaji Temple boasts deep ties with the imperial family and is renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms. ๐ธ๐บ The Golden Hall, originally relocated from the main palace of the Kyoto Imperial PalaceโShishinden, is an architectural marvel from the Momoyama period. ๐ฏ๐ธ ๐ฟ๐ Apart from the roof, which was replaced from cypress bark to wooden tiles, the rest of the structure maintains its original form. Almost all Japanese emperors have turned to Buddhism after abdication, and since 888 AD, ๐ธ๐บ many imperial princes and princesses have taken the tonsure at Ninnaji, hence its alternative name "Omuro Imperial Palace." ๐ฟ๐ Its cherry blossoms, in turn, are called "Omuro Sakura." ๐ธ๐ The temple is home to 200 Omuro cherry trees, whose double petals bloom profusely, ๐ธ๐บ submerging the courtyard in a sea of blossoms and making it a major attraction in Kyoto. The blooming period is later than other cherry blossoms, serving as the final embellishment of Kyoto's spring among its many cherry blossom sites. ๐ผ๐ #Japan ๐ฏ๐ต ๐ฟ๐
