Nitty Gritty Review

During my trip to Tromsø, I visited Nitty Gritty based on recommendations. This restaurant is often praised as a good choice for local flavors, but how was the actual experience? 🍖 Black Angus Steak We initially ordered a 550-gram Black Angus steak, thinking it would be enough for four people. However, the portion was surprisingly small, and we ended up ordering another 550-gram steak. The steak itself was quite tasty, with tender meat and perfectly cooked to our liking. It was flavorful overall, but the price was really steep. By the time we ordered two, our budget felt like it exploded. For a couple, one 550-gram steak would probably be enough. I wouldn't recommend ordering too much at once. 🥔 Potato Mash The potato mash had high expectations, with many people saying it was a perfect match for the steak. But in reality, the portion was tiny, and the taste was quite ordinary. It wasn't particularly impressive. It's worth trying once, but it's not a standout dish. 🐖 Iberico Pork Chop The pork chop was decent, with a noticeable charcoal-grilled aroma. However, the pork was a bit dry and lacked moisture, making it less tender than I would have liked. If you're a fan of pork, it's worth a try, but it's not the best I've had. 🍗 Chicken Wings We also ordered two portions of chicken wings. They were served with a hot chili sauce, and the taste was somewhat similar to Domino’s hot chicken wings. But compared to Domino’s, they lacked a bit of punch and were pretty average overall. 💔 Missed Out on Duck Hearts We had hoped to try their duck hearts, which were highly recommended. Unfortunately, they were out of stock that day, which was a real disappointment. 🍫 Desserts: Chocolate Cake & Orange Dessert We finished our meal with two desserts: a chocolate cake and an orange dessert that the chef highly recommended as a local specialty. However, the orange dessert was not very appealing; it had a strange taste. So don't be fooled by the "chef's recommendation"! The chocolate dessert was a better choice, and the accompanying ice cream was quite nice. 💸 Overall Experience The total cost for four people was over 300 pounds, which felt quite expensive. I'd say Nitty Gritty is a decent restaurant in Tromsø with acceptable flavors, worth visiting once, but probably not a place I'd return to. If you're on a budget, I recommend shopping at the supermarket and cooking your own meals. Restaurants in Tromsø are generally pricey, and the per-person cost here can be quite painful for most people. 📍 Nitty Gritty Storgata 42, 9008 Tromsø, Norway Remember to make a reservation in advance through their official website or Google Maps. #Tromsø #TromsøCuisine #NorwegianFood
