North Carolina Charlotte Food Diary – No Pics, No Ads 📝

Just moved from DMV to NC, so here’s my unfiltered food log! Taste is subjective—no hate, just honesty 😊 Cary NC Brecotea: Mango cake’s cream was a bit heavy, and the mango was too firm 🥭. Desserts aren’t as sweet as American ones, but not as smooth as Korean-style. Forgot to ask for 50% sugar in my milk tea—way too sweet 😣. Still prefer DMV’s Kyoto Matcha and Tous les Jours. Dazhaimen Hot Pot: Average flavor, decent portion. Spicy broth turned bitter at the end, but pork bone broth was okay 🥘. Limited dipping options—no dry chili 😫. Fried pork strips were all fat… But service was so good, might go back for that alone! Dafengshou: Tried the dry pot combo—crispy fish was weirdly crunchy but super spicy, with a fishy aftertaste 🐟. Chicken wings were great, though—juicy and flavorful. Not as good as Rockville MD’s location, but still okay. Texas Roadhouse (Concord): One of the worst chain meals ever! They served me raw steak… Sent it back, and they just reheated it instead of making a new one 🥩❌. Laosunjia: Paper plates, semi-self-service. Beef noodle soup was bad—noodles were like bread, not the usual flatbread 🍜. BBQ was oven-cooked, no crispy Maillard reaction crust… Boring. Lamb had no lamb flavor, just onion (to cover gaminess). Beef skewers were okay, sausages were sweet (like ones), fish tofu was tasteless, broccoli was oily 🥦. Northern big wontons? Better to cook frozen ones at home. Chuan Wang Fu: Overhyped on Xiaohongshu—not good 😒. Great Wall (in Ally51): Beef noodle soup’s noodles were overcooked machine-made ones. But fried rice noodles had amazing wok hei—cheap and tasty, recommended 🍽️. Soy sauce chicken was sweet (like char siu), dry and bad 🐔. New Asian Market: Tofu pudding had no savory sauce—yuck 🥣. Roast duck rice was average, but cheap and filling. STK Steakhouse: but delicious! My ribeye filet was cooked perfectly medium-rare 🥩✨.
