I am a 75 year old retired software developer. I've been in retirement for 20 years and know how quickly software and technology changes. I was recently presented with numerous software and hardware 'challenges!' Fortunately, in my 'earlier life' I had a 'mentor' that provided me with some wonderful advice. He said, "John when you are confronted with a technology 'problem' and it becomes 'overwhelming' and the 'crap' in that 'swamp' is approaching your chin.... STOP what you are doing!... THEN... Call a NERD!
Two minutes later I saw this advertising sign on a van.. NerdsToGo - Cary, NC
I immediately thought... WOW... this 2024 Technolgy has 'Divine Inspiration?'... hum... I wonder IF this is a 'religious scam?'
Well... I called NerdsToGo and made an appointment for the next day. I was pleased and impressed to meet their technician, Joshua. Josh is skillfull and professional in explaining each action he was taking with my software and hardware so I understood what he was doing!... RARE Quality! In 90 minutes Josh completed all the necessay work to get EVERYTHNIG functioning! It's the next day... and it's STILL WORKING! BRAVO and Thank you! Johua!
Now my opinion of the Company NerdsToGo? It's their people that make them OUTSTANDING!
I am going to suggest this new advertising placard...
NerdsToGo... your... NeedToHave!
Cheers! John...
Read moreNerdstoGo is has been my go computer help! This was my 3rd time going to there for computer repair. First it was my kids gaming PC. This time it was my personal laptop. Mike is quick to respond and very knowledgeable. The guys at the shop Jeffrey and Josh, they are so helpful and knowledgeable. They never make you feel like you know nothing about computers. I already knew what was happening to my laptop so I told them that it was excrutiatingly slow that start up was so painful to watch, couldn't even open a browser or open an app! I ran out of space in my hard drive since my son had used it for an Adobe class during the pandemic. Adobe Photoshop took 2.5 gigs of space! Now he's graduated, I can't uninstall photoshop because his WCPSS ID expired. Long story short, I sent a request for service and Mike called within a minute, gave his initial diagnosis and asked me to drop the laptop to have them look at it. They are pretty busy so it takes a day to get a diagnosis. They were able get the work done within a day or 2. Turns out my hard drive was failing and needed replacement. They are very reasonably price. I would definitely go there again. ...
Read moreI recently went to NerdsToGo in Chapel Hill to fix a problem with my custom desktop which had no power after I upgraded the motherboard, CPU, GPU & RAM. I dropped off the PC first thing Monday, hoping to get it resolved quickly. They charged me for a diagnostic fee (which was 1/3rd the cost of the parts!) and after a day & half, told me it was a PSU (power supply) problem, which was dead. They gave me a quote for over $500 to swap out the PSU, which is more than the PC itself!! I went ahead and bought the PSU myself, gave it to them to swap out (a 30-min swap max.). However, after half a day, I hadn't heard back from them. After a long call with the reception and talking to the owner to escalate, they were able to swap out the PSU for just the diagnostic fee and returned my PC the same day. I'm glad that the owner was able to intervene to resolve the problem quickly. I just wish that it would've been handled better by providing updates using a ticketing system they have. Expect to pay a premium on all parts/service...
