Northern California Hiking | Lake Siskiyou ποΈ
Lake Siskiyou is one of the larger lakes near Mt. Shasta. A full loop around the lakeshore is about 11 kilometers (roughly 7 miles). πΆβοΈ Apart from the areas near the main entrance and the swimming beach, the rest of the trail is not very crowded. The best part about this path is that there's virtually no elevation gainβit's a purely leisurely walk. You can enjoy beautiful views of the snowy mountain from different angles all along the way! ποΈ On the same day, we also visited the nearby town of McCloud, located south of Mt. Shasta. It's most famous for the Lower, Middle, and Upper McCloud Falls. The hike to see all three is about 6 kilometers (around 3.7 miles) round trip, with a very gentle incline. There's also a campground along the route. βΊ One thing we noticed on the McCloud trail that day was that there were a lot of people of Indian descent. It made us wonder, did all the tech workers from the Bay Area come up here for the weekend? π What's your favorite easy, scenic lake loop to hike? Have you explored the Mt. Shasta area?
