Northern California Hiking | Mt. Shasta Heart Lake Trail 🏔️💙
Mt. Shasta is one of Northern California’s tallest peaks. Driving from the Bay Area takes about 4 hours—but the journey is totally worth it! 🚗💨 We started with a trail from Castle Lake to Heart Lake—less than 5 km round trip, but packed with stunning views! 🌲🥾 The trail begins at Castle Lake, a popular spot for swimming and picnics. On the west side of the lake, a faint path leads uphill, gradually revealing breathtaking views of Mt. Shasta. 🏞️✨ At the top lies a small lake shaped like a heart—yep, that’s Heart Lake! ❤️ It’s the perfect vantage point to admire Mt. Shasta. Even in summer, you can see snow dusting the summit. When I visited, a soft cloud lingered around the peak, adding a touch of magic. ☁️⛰️ After descending, we explored the nearby town also named Mt. Shasta. It’s a true small town—just two traffic lights, and all the restaurants and shops are within a short stretch. Yet every café was buzzing with people sipping coffee, eating, and chatting. Maybe that’s the famous North American laid-back vibe! ☕😌 Have you hiked a trail that led to a surprise view or a charming small town?
