🚗💨 Ottawa Day Trip Diary | Family Adventure in the Capital! 💨🚗
Sunday = Ottawa road trip with the fam—our first time in a decade! 👨👩👧👦💫 Last visit, our youngest was still in a stroller… Now she’s in Grade 6! 📚⏳ Left home at 6 AM, cruised smoothly, and rolled into Ottawa by 11 AM. 🌥️ Overcast skies, but no rain = winning! First stop: Commissioners Park for tulip mania! 🌷📸 Snapped pics galore, and just as we left—sunshine broke through! ☀️✨ Perfect timing. Next up: Parliament Hill! 🏛️🕒 Booked a 1:55 PM tour, arrived by 1:30 PM… only to find the main building wrapped in scaffolding! 🚧🚧 Renovation mode activated! But guess what? Since the main chamber’s closed, we got to peek into the temporary meeting hall! 🤯 Our guide spilled all the tea on Canadian politics: Seating secrets: Spotted the PM’s seat vs. the Opposition Leader’s spot—learned why they’re arranged that way! 💺🔍 Speaker’s “reluctant” tradition: New Speakers get dragged to the chair by PM + Opposition Leader, faking major drama! 🎭😜 Historically risky job (some got executed by the Crown!), hence the fake pushback. Prime Minister Portrait Hall highlights: 🖼️ PMs #1 & #2: Rival party leaders hung on opposite walls—eternal debate vibes! 🗣️🔥 Kim Campbell: First female PM, rocked Indigenous-inspired art in her portrait. 🎨🏹 Chrétien: Yellow backdrop ‘cause his daughter loves the color! 💛👧 Martin’s portrait = hung, Harper’s = missing. 🤔 Guide joked about Trudeau: “Still PM… no portrait yet!” 😉 Crowd shouted “NEXT YEAR!” 😂 Exiting Parliament, spotted a “Fuck Trudeau” flag dude! 🚩🤬 Love the passion—#TeamChange2025! 🙌🇨🇦 #Ottawa #DayTrip #FamilyFun #ParliamentHill
