My only Ottawa dinner was at Fauna, once ranked among Canada’s Top 100 restaurants. While not mind-blowing, the flavors were solid and enjoyable. 📍 Fauna Located near Ottawa Downtown, with easy walking access to nearby attractions. 💰 Average Cost: ~$50 CAD Per Person 📌 Tip We visited on a weekday evening, so it wasn’t crowded, but book ahead for weekends to secure a table! The restaurant is intimate, with soft lighting creating a cozy, romantic vibe—perfect for dates or relaxed chats. The menu isn’t extensive, but every dish shines with creative fusion flair. ❤️ Raw Oysters A must for oyster lovers like me! Super fresh, sourced from Western Canada. They’re not the largest, but their subtle sweetness makes them delicious. 🦪 ❤️ Soft Shell Crab Crispy fried soft shell crab coated in spicy garlic sauce. The crab is plump, and the tangy-spicy sauce adds a zesty kick—totally addictive with that fried crunch! ❤️ 80 Day Dry Aged Ribeye for 2 Their signature dish, and it’s generously portioned for two. The steak is cooked to perfection; the long aging process adds rich, complex flavors with a hint of pleasant fermentation. Served with veggies and mushrooms tossed in flavorful oil and sauce—deliciously complementary. 🥩 ❤️ Duck Our other main: perfectly cooked duck with crispy, oily skin and tender meat. The surprise? It’s paired with kimchi pancakes! The combination of savory duck and tangy kimchi is uniquely delightful. 💥 Final Thoughts Fauna is a solid choice with great flavors—worth a visit! While it didn’t leave me wowed, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a nice meal.
