Ottawa Library Review - Hazeldean Branch
Hazeldean is arguably the most thoughtfully designed branch in terms of feng shui (oops, scratch that!) environmental planning. The large windows face south-southeast, and with a small hillside behind it, the library avoids the harsh afternoon sun glare—perfect for evening visits! 🌞📚 Located in the heart of Glen Cairn, this branch sits right in the middle of a vast green space, offering panoramic views without feeling like a "concrete fortress in a parking lot" (take notes, urban planners!). For a community library with limited funding, balancing aesthetics and functionality is no small feat—yet Hazeldean nails it! 👏 Rating Time! 🎯 Seating Availability: 7/10 There’s a decent amount of seating, including traditional tables & chairs, around 10 computer workstations, and some comfy single armchairs for solo readers. 🪑💻 Scenery & Views: 9/10 Surrounded by lush greenery, the library offers unobstructed views from its large windows (check out pics 2 & 3!). It’s serene, picturesque, and perfect for daydreaming between chapters. 🌳🖼️ Reading Atmosphere: 5/10 This is where Hazeldean falls short. Two main issues: 1️⃣ Lighting is a bit dim—not ideal for long reading sessions. 2️⃣ Unlike other OPL branches that separate the kids' play area, Hazeldean keeps everything in one big room. If you want silence, come after 7 PM! 🤫📖 Final Thoughts: A great spot for casual reading and enjoying nature views, but not the best for deep focus. Still, the location & design make it a hidden gem in Kanata! ✨ #Ottawa #OttawaFoodAndFun #OttawaWeekend #OttawaAttractions #Kanata #OttawaWeekendPlans
