Part 2: LA Omakase & Japanese Restaurants 🍣✨

From traditional edomae-style to modern fusion, here’s a roundup of my recent omakase experiences across LA: 🏮 Nozawa Bar (Beverly Hills) – ★ Michelin Located inside Sugarfish via a small hallway. Intimate and quiet, but 20+ courses were all fish—traditional yet monotonous for my taste. Toro was sliced too thin, missing that rich, fatty punch. Dessert felt rushed. Chef is friendly (takes photos for IG afterward), but I likely won’t return. 🌊 The Brothers Sushi (Santa Monica) Cozy space with Omakase bar seating. Run by Japanese chefs but caters to a mostly American crowd. Ingredients were fresh and generous—two kinds of uni (Santa Barbara & Japanese). Presentation is simple (not overly “pretty”), but flavors deliver. Pace was slightly slow; chef keeps it low-key, which I liked. 🍸 Bar Sawa A hidden, speakeasy-style bar with a warm, quiet vibe. Thoughtful service (they noticed I’m left-handed!). Sushi is solid, cocktails are smooth, and the mini cake dessert was lovely. Perfect for a relaxed, intimate meal without formal omakase fuss. 🎉 Uchi West Hollywood Feels like a more affordable Nobu—vibrant, trendy, and fusion-focused. Great for groups, with a lively WeHo atmosphere. Dishes are creative and tasty, though it’s far from traditional Japanese. Book ahead! 🗼 OOTORO (Little Tokyo) A reliable go-to for quality sushi without the omakase price tag. Quiet, comfortable, and perfect for solo dining or small gatherings. Good value and consistent fish quality. 🍶 Masamitsu (San Gabriel Valley) A solid choice in the SGV with flavors suited to Asian palates. The plum wine cocktail stands out. Ideal when you want trustworthy Japanese food without driving far. 🍱 KIYO (SGV) Unassuming omakase spot in th. Environment is simple, but ingredients are fresh and portions are very generous—I was full halfway through. A humble, serious kitchen focused on the food. Whether you prefer classic edomae, fusion energy, or neighborhood gems, LA’s Japanese dining scene offers a little of everything. 🥢 #OmakaseLA #Sushi #LosAngeles #JapaneseFood #MichelinStar #Edomae #BarSawa #Uchi #LittleTokyo #SGV #FoodReview #EatLA #FineDining #HiddenGems
