Pecan Creek Strawberry Picking: A Family Adventure in Dallas

🍓This week, I took my kids to the famous Pecan Creek strawberry farm in the DFW area to pick strawberries. Here’s a guide for anyone planning to visit! 👩🏻‍🌾Key Points: Arrive Early! The farm opens at 10 a.m., but the parking lot opens at 9 a.m. for queuing. I thought Monday would be less crowded, but I was wrong. The lines were long, and by the time we got in, most of the easy-to-reach strawberries were already picked. The remaining ones required wading through the mud, and it was hot and sunny. So, get there as early as possible! 🍓First-Time Visitors: You need to queue to buy their small red baskets for $4 each. These are reusable, so you won’t need to wait in line to buy them on future visits. The strawberries are organic, large, and very sweet. They cost $8 per pound, which is a bit pricey, but there’s no admission fee, so you pay only for what you pick. It’s all about the experience! I’d suggest not bringing very young children, as picking strawberries can be challenging, and the fields are very muddy. It’s easy for adults to slip into mud pits, and a child falling in could be a disaster. There are no restrooms—only honey buckets. 🍓Wear Appropriate Footwear! Definitely wear waterproof boots or go barefoot. Bring water and wet wipes for cleaning up, as there are no faucets for washing in the fields. Refreshments: The strawberry lemonade is a must-try. After picking strawberries under the hot sun, a refreshing glass of lemonade completes the experience. Check Opening Hours: Before you go, check their Facebook page to confirm the opening and closing times. They are open on the 1st, 3rd, and 6th of each month, but they close once the strawberries are sold out. #StrawberryPicking #DallasLife #Dallas #LifeInNorthAmerica #FamilyOuting
