Good: Went there on a Saturday morning 45 minutes before they opened. They open the parking lot one hour before opening the shop/fields to pickers. Parking was efficient. A few guys directed us to parking and we were early enough that we got close parking to the front gate. There were two lines set up. About 10 mins before opening, a worker walked down the line to tell us what to do and expect. The line went down the fence line and around the corner by the time they officially opened for basket sales. When you get to the front, buy a red basket from them for $4. This basket is yours to keep and you can reuse it for another trip. Now you get to walk down the field and pick strawberries and put them in your basket. Strawberries do not ripen once off the plant so you only want to pick the ripe ones. When you are ready to pay, you have three places you can pay for your strawberries. You can go to the side or back of the same building where you bought the red basket from, or the little red building sitting behind the building where you got the red basket. They weigh the strawberries and the round to the 1/4 pound. Because you bought the red basket from them, they already know how much the basket weighs and they deduct the weight of the basket. Fun experience. It was just my daughter and I and we took 30 mins to pick strawberries. The strawberries were flavorful and better than what we get in stores, but I guess if they didnât taste good we would be the only ones to blame since we picked it. đ
Pro tip: Sometimes we forget that not everywhere has our creature comforts. The place is outside so you will be exposed to everything that comes with it. Parking is in a grass/dirt field. The whole place is in a field with patches of dirt and the rows between planted strawberries are dirt. Strollers will be hard to push. There will be mud if it rains or has recently rainedâ wear rain boots. You will be exposed to bugs. You may be hot or cold. They only have port o potties.
Pro tip: They have drinks and snacks for purchase so something maybe you havenât thought of is getting some tap water in an extra large water bottle and a colander. Super weird right? If you are like me, I couldnât wait to taste the strawberries. After you pay for the strawberries, put some in your colander and rinse the dirt and other stuff off, then eat. Yum!
Pro tip: people didnât want to get strawberries where there was tall grass and/or mud, which made it better for the more adventurous people to find some really nice strawberries. Bring rain boots. Wear pants and...
Read moreAbsolutely worthless place. Rude staff and no concern for kids. We drove the kids to be with their friends. They had purchased tickets and confirmed that they would let kids in. When we tried to stop to drop off, the guy at the gate started screaming.. And the staff inside then refused to let the 2 kids with us in. Avoid..
Additional Details in response to owner: Responding to reviews by lying does not fix the issue. Please ask your staff to be more courteous. The following is for those that want to indulge in details.
I wish that there was any truth in what you are saying in your response. We enquired from you about 2 kids that are on the way, we mentioned that the only reason they are not here was that we did not have place in the car and friends are dropping them off. You agreed. The friend arrived about 20 minutes later when you had closed. We were not asking for more baskets, but just to let a couple of kids in. How are the number of berries collected going to be more if the number of baskets are the same? I can understand if the place is too full, but we had already asked about this before we purchased the baskets.. So lies on all sides.
My friend has a mini RV. There is no way he could have pulled the car "very close" to the his body. The person in front was anything but friendly. I asked what he said, and he told me that he had mentioned they just wanted to let the kids in and I could come pick them up from the front, he did not have to let us in..This is when he started yelling. Yelling is NOT part of Southern hospitality, no where else I have experienced this. He then called me and we all left the place since we could not have left the kids, they had other...
Read moreThis is a great activity for families. Keep in mind spring is strawberry season, and the farm opens seasonally. We went on a Saturday around noon, the crowd was a little more than we expected. We stood in line for approximately 10 minutes to pay for a plastic bucket that you will take home full of strawberries. It is ok to bring your own bucket, plus may purchase multiple buckets. You are able to bypass this step if you have been there before and know what to do. At this time advisement is given regarding how it all works, which strawberry colors to choose, that your bucket will be weighed at the end, and cost is by weight. It had rained heavily a few days before we went, and many of the rows were very muddy, I suggest wear comfortable shoes or boots that you donât mind getting muddy. The rows were notably picked over, yet we were able to pick a decent amount of ripe strawberries. Once our buckets were filled we walked back toward the entrance, had our buckets weighed, then paid. It was a simple yet âfruitfulâ experience. The best part is the strawberries were absolutely hands down - the most aromatic, sweetest, juiciest, and DELICIOUS I have ever eaten!! Suggestions: *Go on a weekday if able, note the kids are usually in school during peak season, so weekends may be the only option for those wanting to take school age children. *Plan to be there as soon as it opens, donât wait until noon. *Parking is free, itâs a roped off field. *Wear comfortable shoes, if it has been raining prior to your visit, consider mud boots. *Donât overlook the arched photo opportunity on the way to have strawberries weighed, we saw it last minute. *Donât rush, take your time and enjoy...
