This noon, I tried the Peking duck jianbing 🌯. To be honest, when I first heard about this combination, I was a little surprised 😯. Peking duck, cured sausage, and char siu—these three meats aren’t typical pairings with traditional jianbing, but I finally decided to try the Peking duck version. The jianbing itself was very well made 👍! The wrapper was soft, the crispy fried dough was fragrant, and the flour aroma was delightful. With the first bite, it tasted just like the jianbing I remember. However, when I reached the middle, the flavors of sweet bean sauce and Peking duck suddenly stood out, making me pause for a moment 🫢. The duck was cut into small pieces and there wasn’t too much of it. As I chewed, the overall texture felt a bit hollow, lacking some satisfaction. I wouldn’t say it’s unpleasant, just a little strange 🤔. The rich taste of Peking duck and the simple, hearty nature of jianbing didn’t blend completely, like two friends meeting but not having much to talk about. But if you enjoy new experiences, maybe you can give it a try 🌟. Overall, the jianbing part was very authentic, but with the addition of Peking duck, it felt a bit mismatched. Hopefully, next time I’ll come across a more harmonious combination!🍽️ #Portland #PortlandFood #Food #PortlandTravel #FoodieCheck
