A Northern Chinese street food, the jianbing at Bing Mi are Chinese savory crepes filled with a choice of meat and/or tofu, scrambled egg, zhacai (which is pickled mustard tuber), wonton crackers, green onions, cilantro, and "bing sauce." They can be made with varying levels of spice.
On three separate visits, I had the Roasted Duck Loaded Jianbing, the Chinese Sausage Loaded Jianbing, and the Bacon Loaded Jianbing (each pictured). The "loaded" versions have extra scrambled egg and extra wonton crackers, which I feel was an excellent choice, each time.
The savory crepes were soft, and very lightly sweet, the zhacai was zesty and maybe a bit spicy, but refreshing, the bing sauce was lightly sweet, but mostly savory, and the crispy, lightly crunchy wonton crackers added a fantastic texture to the experience. I absolutely loved it!
They were served piping hot, and held their heat, surprisingly well. I opted for medium spicy (3 of 5 stars) on each, which was great, but I may bump it up to 4 stars, next time.
I definitely preferred the Roasted Loaded Duck Jianbing, of the three, but I was very happy with each experience. This is a beautiful, interesting, warm and filling handheld food, that I highly recommend! I will definitely visit this cart again, and probably fairly regularly, as the Nob Hill food carts are conveniently located.

On the quiet end of Vaughn, Bing Mi is truly spectacular and just off the beaten path. I went last week for the 1st time, and immediately made plans to bring another friend today. I am THRILLED to report the consistency of the dishes was perfection. Everything was just as delectable and beautifully presented as the 1st time. The noodles are good, hot or cooled, and we always add the chili oil from the wonton when mixing the noodles. Now the wonton are a pure joy to eat! Well balanced amount of juicy pork filling with soft, perfectly chewy wrappers and the oil... yum, the oil. I could make a meal of just those! Shining brightly alongside, a jianbing - something I never knew existed. A crepe, wrapped around Chinese sausage and fillings that are a symphony of flavors. A true masterpiece! The fully loaded is shareable, and with 4 it would make a great appetizer. I kid you not, I thought about this all week! Add a little chili oil to each bite and yum! We got spice level 2, and it was just right for my friend who can't tolerate a lot of spice.
This is a must try, and I'm coming from SE, so you have no excuse to miss this lovely restaurant! Maybe I'll...
